Position Overview

Universal Installations is seeking dependable and mechanically skilled Commercial Installation Technicians to join our field installation team.

Technicians travel to retail and commercial job sites to perform professional installations as part of a small installation crew. This role requires strong hands-on construction ability, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Technicians are responsible for transporting tools and materials, completing installations, documenting project progress, and ensuring work meets company expectations.

This position is best suited for technicians with commercial installation, fixture installation, retail rollout, or traveling construction experience.

Work Schedule

This position operates on two primary shifts depending on project requirements:

Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Night Shift: 11:00 PM – 6:00 AM

Both schedules are common, and technicians must be comfortable working either day or overnight shifts depending on the project.

Travel Expectations

This is a travel-based position.

Travel occurs most weeks

Technicians typically return home on weekends

Hotels are provided by the company

Most work is performed throughout Texas, but projects may occur anywhere in the United States

Nationwide Retail Installation Projects

Universal Installations performs installation projects for national retail and commercial clients. Our technicians travel with small crews to complete installations, equipment installs, and site upgrades across multiple locations.

Projects may include:

Retail fixture installations

Bollard installation

Equipment mounting and anchoring

Core drilling and concrete anchoring

Structural mounting systems

Store remodel and retrofit work

Technicians with experience in retail installation crews, fixture installation, signage installation, or commercial retrofit work tend to transition well into this role.

What a Typical Week Looks Like

While each project varies, a typical week may include:

Traveling to the project location at the beginning of the week

Picking up installation materials from warehouses when required

Driving company vehicles to job sites

Meeting with the site superintendent and participating in daily safety meetings

Verifying delivered materials and documenting inventory

Completing installation work with your crew

Taking progress photos and uploading project documentation

Performing quality checks using company installation checklists

Conducting final walkthroughs with the site superintendent

Most crews finish their work week and return home for the weekend.

Key Responsibilities

Drive company vehicles to warehouses and job sites

Pick up installation materials from warehouses when required

Maintain responsibility for company tools, vehicles, and equipment

Meet with site superintendents and participate in daily safety meetings

Verify and document delivered materials

Take required photos and upload installation documentation

Perform installations using construction tools and equipment

Read and interpret installation drawings and blueprints

Complete installation checklists and quality verification

Conduct final walkthroughs with site management

Skills & Experience We Are Looking For

This role is best suited for technicians with commercial installation or construction experience.

Helpful experience includes:

Commercial millwork installation

Bollard installation

Signage installation

Concrete drilling and anchoring

Equipment installation

Structural mounting systems

Retail remodel or construction work

Tool Experience

Technicians should be comfortable using tools such as:

Core drills

Hammer drills

Angle grinders

Precision measuring tools

Power saws

Concrete anchoring tools

Equipment Experience

Experience operating earth-moving equipment for installations such as bollards

Skid steer experience or certification is a plus

Technical Ability

Ability to read blueprints and installation drawings

Basic computer or smartphone skills for uploading documentation and photos

Safety

Follow OSHA safety guidelines

Participate in daily safety meetings

Maintain safe working practices at all times

Requirements

Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record

Must maintain driver’s license in good standing

Ability to travel regularly for projects

Legal authorization to work in the United States

Ability to lift and handle installation materials and equipment

Compensation

$200 per shift

Project bonuses based on project profitability

Company-paid hotels during travel
